RYAN JAMES PARKER
*
If i could end this waking dream
Escape through a scream
And feel i'd won some way
Wade through this dark decay
Welcome an early grave
And put my heart away
To start another game
Its getting old
With nowhere to go

[x] Courageous. Ryan is the kind of guy that runs into burning buildings to save people. He believes the saying that you should always do what’s right, even when what’s right isn’t always what’s easy. Confident in his ability to make the shitty call when he needs to, he still strives to save everyone regardless of the situation. Parker’s a good cop, his boss and co-workers think a lot of the integrity and honesty he’s shown while both on and off the job.
[x] Understanding. He’s a listener. Whether its allowing his four year old daughter to explain her day, listening to his wife talk about her current book or favorite TV show, or even a perp trying to explain why they were doing something- Ryan always gives them his undivided attention. His father was the exact opposite. In hatred for the man, Ryan strives to be someone different, someone better.
[x] Reckless. Due to the strangeness surrounding the death of his wife and child, Ryan has become erratic. His temper is short and he’s started to make violent calls whether they’re right or wrong. Because of this, his close to jeopardizing his job and may be put on suspension at any point for anything the Captain thinks is out of line.
[x] Determined. Stubborn to the core, he works hard for what he wants. If there is something he needs to obtain, some sort of goal, he’ll stop at nothing to reach it. Ryan is resourceful and can think on the fly when he needs to, and nearly always follows his gut instincts.
[x] Insane. Or so he thinks. Ryan is under the impression that something a lot more sinister is going on, and believes that to the fullest extent of his being. Mostly because the alternative is to believe he’s going crazy, which is hasn’t altogether ruled out.

- - - - overall history,
As a natural born resident, Ryan James Parker has always lived in Havenvale. His father, Lucas, was a doctor at the local hospital and a well known one at that. His mother was never allowed to work, but til this day she says it was her choice to quit her teaching job and become a stay at home mother to her two children. Childhood wasn’t easy for Ryan. From as far back as he can remember, Lucas had always beat him. And it wasn’t the simple spanking that most parents gave their children when they got out of line, no- this was all out belt against skin as hard as his father could. Growing up with that sort of childhood might seem difficult to some, but to Ryan it was as normal as breathing. That was, until Jenny was born.
Jenny came into the world when Ryan was eight years old. She was an unplanned pregnancy- one his father was furious with. It was around this time that Ryan stopped being the only one in the family being abused, and the violence turned on his mother. Being who he was, he always stepped in the way and tried to help protect his mother whenever he could. Usually he could anger his father enough for the violence to be directed at him instead of his pregnant mother. It was around this time that Ryan decided what he wanted to do with his life- help people. He urged his mother to seek help but she refused. Once he even called the Police himself but his mother denied it. Local law enforcement was hesitant to arrest one of the wealthiest and influential people in town.
Instead of things getting better when Jenny was born, they only got worse. The beatings were nightly by this point and it was all Ryan could do to keep both his mother and sister safe. Childhood had never been an option for Ryan but he worked hard for Jenny to have a happy one. As they grew older, Jenny realized all the sacrificed her brother made for her and tried to get them help- only to be met with the same resistance Ryan had met with at the time of her birth.
High school was nothing short of the best years of his life. Even though his home life hadn’t gotten any better and he still at the bruises to prove it, he’d met Alyssa. The two of them began dating almost immediately, but Ryan refused to tell her about what was going on in his home life. Their junior year, the two of them had their first sexual encounter with each other- only for her to find several cuts and bruises all over his body. Appalled at the idea of him, his sister, and his mother being beat everyday by his father- Jenny went to the police. This time around, the police filed for an actual investigation of the ‘good’ doctor.
Ryan can still remember the night he came home to find his mother bloody and unconscious and his sister screaming in the other room. Even know, he can’t say what fueled him more- fear or panic. Looking back they both seemed equally as dangerous. His father was beating his sister, whom was near the point of blacking out. Without thinking, Ryan jumped his father. The two of them crashed through the sliding glass doors, the tiny splinters of crystal cutting each of them all over their bodies. When they landed, Ryan rolled away from his father and prepared himself to fight. It was only then he realized that one of the pieces of glass was sticking out from his father’s neck. For a moment he hesitated, toyed with the idea of allowing the man to die. Unable to live with himself if he allowed it to open, he pulled out his cell and called 911. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, his father was dead before the ambulance could arrive.
The official report says the death was an accident, resulting in the act of self-defense. But everyone assumed the death had been on purpose, that Ryan had wanted to kill his father. But then, maybe a part of him- the larger part, had wanted the man dead. His sister never blamed him but his mother stopped talking to him altogether. She took his sister and moved to another state with their grandparents. Ryan, choosing to stay in Havenvale, got a job and an apartment. Alyssa grew even closer to him and right out of high school the two were married. Ryan joined the police force, proving quickly to be a great addition to their team. Alyssa and Ryan were married for four years before they decided they were ready for a child. Ryan, understandably so, was extremely worried about his parenting skills.
As it turned out though, Ryan made an excellent father. His little girl, whom they named Emily, was the light of his life. If ever there was a daddy’s girl, this was it. She brought him more happiness then anything in this world, and because of that he doted on his only daughter like most people wouldn’t believe. Alyssa didn’t mind though, knowing it was good for him- as if it were a healing process. But Alyssa had always been understanding like that.
About two months ago however, the unthinkable happened. Alyssa, his kind, sweet, caring, loving, and wonderful Alyssa, went off the rails. Ryan came home to find his four-year-old daughter dead and his wide covered in blood. His wife grinned at him with a look that could have been from the devil itself. She attacked him, stabbing him so damn close to the heart that even the doctors wondered how he’d survived. He reached out and grabbed her arm, the shock of having her skin fall from her arm as he did so over taking his mind before he fell to the floor. Ryan managed to shoot his beloved wife in the leg as she escaped out the back door.
When he awoke in the hospital, some two weeks later. The most troubling news he’d ever heard in his entire life came through. They’d found his wife. She’d been found a few miles behind their house in the woods, in a cave. The cause of death had been officially ruled as blunt trauma. No gun wound could be found on her. The strangest thing about it at all, was that his wife had been chained down. His chief then told him that if it hadn’t been for the footage off their home camera system, Ryan himself would be on trial for murdering them. But as it was, they had video proof that Alyssa had killed Emily and attacked her husband. None of it made any sense to Ryan, but in his newly awakened condition, he wasn’t really in any state to question it. But after having been awake for a week now,
None of it still makes any sense.
